Well I was lined up to replace my iphone4.0 with this but the new Nokia 920 has me at the moment. I can't see iPhone 5 bettering it.

Plus the inevitable explosion in windows 8 tablets (will def overtake ipads i think) means I may go that way soon to replace the iPad2 and having a mobile phone to match seems sensible.

The market reacted negatively to the new Nokia phone. It doesn't seem that impressive tbh.

And yeah, Windows 8 tablets will be a game changer

The investment markets may have done, but I have no idea why.  All reviews and specs I have seen are very positive.  It's as good a phone as there is currently available. Certainly a lot ,lot better than iphone4S, so unless 5 is a massive leap it will be weaker.

No ship date. No pricing. And as you note below, software support is dependant on a failed product (Windows Phone 7) and a completely untested product (Windows 8/RT). Broad cross-platform compatibility will only do good things for Windows Phone 8 software support, but it's not a surefire guarantee of a vibrant software ecosystem. Windows 8 can fizzle like Vista and RT can fizzle like Phone 7, and where does that leave the 8/Phone 8/RT trinity?

Current rumour says the new Lumia will ship in the new year, giving the latest iPhone and Galaxy another whole holiday season to sell without Microkia even being in the game. That's not even catching up to the competition, let alone leapfrogging it.
