It is a gimmick until a rival has their own answer for it.  At that point, the rival's solution is seen as a superior upgrade, and the feature Nintendo did suddenly becomes a necessity, by the fans of the rival.  

Its still a gimmick when a rival does it. Doesnt mean it cant be seen as a superior upgrade cause 9/10 times it IS. Why wouldnt it be, it is coming after the fact, necessity?? HA hell no

those people are clearly wrong, and personally I think there are few people who actually think like that for them to even be a factor
