I'd say "give it a try", especially that they've improved a lot . I was in your shoes once and I used to hate touch keyboards too. I bought the Xperia X10 and it was a horrible experience. I was kinda bummed that I couldn't find any decent new smartphone with a keyboard that fits me, so I went back and stuck with the n97 . I regret that cuz I type a lot faster on my iPhone now and it didn't take long to get used to it either. New Android phones/Windows phones all have great touch keybaords. Give it a second try :)

but I have an iphone as well but don't use it that much as I press the wrong buttons if I type fast

Do you have auto-corrections on? It helps if you miss a letter in each word.... Or Try phones with bigger screens!

but then it writes the wrong words :P

 

lol i'll just use my N900 as it can do everything I want and more
