JustThatGamer said: Nothing special at all imo, I don't understand how people can be excited for this game,
1.) It's just another post-apocalyptic game with nothing but dilapidated buildings & cars for environments, 2.) No meritable artistic style, 3.) It'll lack good gamesplay just like Uncharted and 4.) it's just dull, no imagination went into making this game.
5.) Just like the Uncharted series, this game will be forgotten about in a few years when next gen consoles come along 6.) because games that focus purely on visuals always become outdated A LOT quicker as newer games with much better visuals will come out and become the new centre of attention for graphic whores, it's games with great gameplay that will be remembered and celebrated for many years to come as they won't become outdated nearly as quick. 7.) Naughty Dog hasn't made any games with great gameplay since Jak & Daxter, 8.) hopefully they'll create something creative, magical, non-shooter, imaginative, fun and ORIGINAL next generation, I doubt it though. |
How did I not notice this? Here's my take on this post.
1.) Did you not see the lush wildlife and vegetation? 2.) Subjective, I guess. I thought it looked good. It showed abandonment and the look of natural wildlife taking over. And unlike the typical post-apocalyptic games, it showed a wide spectrum of colors. Not just brown and gray. 3.) Subjective, I guess. Not sure how you know that now though. Are you from the future? 4.) Some pretty undefined claims there. Not sure how you can gauge or even know how much 'imagination' went into a game. Especially not sure how you can measure the imagination that went into a game by seeing just one level. Perhaps, you're more skilled at detecting imagination that I am, so I'll just have to take your word for it until the game releases.
5.) I doubt that'll happen to Uncharted. We'll see though. As of now, the series appears in the Top 5 on almost every website's list of Top PS3 Game list and is thought of by many as the PS3's best exclusive series. It doesn't appear to be a game that's going to be forgotten. I guess we'll have to wait and see. 6.) Most people say Uncharted does have great gameplay. If the game focused purely on visuals, it wouldn't be nearly as successful/praised as it is. There are games out there with amazing graphics, yet haven't touched the success/praise of Uncharted. This obviously suggests that there's something about Uncharted, apart from graphics, that gives it value. Perhaps, it's gameplay. I guess you can have your opinion though. 7.) Most people feel differently, but that's your opinion I guess. 8.) I hope so too. I don't really care about it being magical or being a non-shooter. I just want an enjoyable game.

1. There are plenty of games with lush wildlife and vegetation. And some with far better vegetation than this one
2. The art style may be decent, but it's still not meritable. There's nothing special about it is what he was trying to say and that is true. More games than ever are going with a stylisitc approach to hide console shortcomings. Which is ok, since in the end it looks better.
3. It's sort of obvious from the gameplay. You walk around and move a table or whatever in the whole of 5 minutes. It would normally take less, but they had to implement rather boring dialogue. (My opinion I suppose)
4. It really is a dull theme. Look at the number of post apocalyptic games out there. I'm fairly certain there is already a movie based around a similar story too. It really don't bring anything new into the genre. Basically Uncharted: The Apocalypse. No undefined claims here.
5. Of course it won't be forgotten. How would Sony not milk a series that fanboys love? Of course come the 10th uncharted they'll still attack Nintendo fans for their games being rehashes and Nintendo milking their franchises. Uncharted in Next gen graphics? I see Uncharted as a PS4 launch title. Maybe it'll be the last of us 2. I'm not sure if Naughty Dog was done with uncharted or not.
6. Uncharted has no different gameplay than any other action orientated game. The only difference is, it tends to lean on the linear side more so than others. Which is fine for those who like the franchise. The gameplay isn't my issue.
7. I agree, all up to someones opinion.
8. I hope they change it up though. Uncharted and the Last of Us are still too similar. Naughty Dog should wander from the path for a game. I'm sure their fans wouldn't mind as long as the game is good.
I don't exactly have a problem with the game. I just hate how "fans" tout it around like it has the best console graphics or something. When clearly it doesn't. It's on part with other high end console games. Just with a tad bit more color. Which is fine. Just if those other games had some more color they'd look exactly the same.
