The reason the sales are doing so poorly is due to stiff competition from the 3DS and its price drop fiasco and the popularity of smart phones and tablet products. The second reason is Sony hate. There are a distrubing amount of customers dedicated towards giving Sony a bad name. Be it from business decisions revolving around consumer rights (i.e. hackers) or from the vastly popular Xbox creating a consumer war. In Japan, the publishers are to blame. The "death" of the JRPG is actually a exodus as a result of Japanese publishers choice to stop funding home console games and concentrate on the PSP because it is cheaper and easier to develop for. Japan is still waiting for the titles to reach the Vita meanwhile games have still been coming out on PSP. Japanese publishers are late to the party because they aren't willing to take risks or use forsight, now that the Vita is out there more games will appear but it takes time to make them. Those games will sell the Vita there, just look at Person 4 the golden's sales when it released, Vita shot up crazy over there and P4 sold 180,000 copies right away. Until those games come Vita will be selling poorly and PSP games will reach the top of the sales chart. Vita itself is an amazing system all around. Hardware, design, software, mult-function. It is like a PS3 turned into a PSP that does what a smartphone/tablet does. PSP was a mutli-media device on top of a gaming handheld. Vita is a mult-medi multi-functional device on top of a gaming handheld. More people just need to experience it, see marketing for it, and the consumer war against Sony needs to die off. |
people like you give me hope in the net not being full of idiots
