I don't see what's so bad about this (aside from us spending more money). Sony 1st party games were generally cheaper in PAL regions than third party games, much like MS 1st party games were $10 cheaper than 3rd party games here in the States. Now, Sony's games will cost the same as 3rd party titles, much like MS' games cost $60 now in NA (started with Gears of War).
As for the discussion on super expensive cartridges back in the day, I remember paying $70 for the original Turok when it came out. :|
