To be fair, it's quite easy to get a texture pack that popular. Just make something that looks halfway decent, then market the shit out of it and keep it updated.
The "keeping it updated" part is why I don't have more downloads. I can't be bothered to keep up with the MC update schedule, especially since texture pack authoring has gotten more and more complicated since they keep on changing things on us.
