Responding to your first response, no that wasn't what I was trying to say. What I was trying to say is it would reflect how much it would cost to put out that much power, however much it costs. Yeah, that's what I thought you meant. We don't know the exact specs but we have a rough estimate of how much we believe it to be. We know for sure it'll have 1.5gb RAM, we know for sure the CPU is IBM-made and made up of 3 power pc cores. We know the gpu is a custom amd series 7 card. So the RAM we know for sure, no exact specs on the CPU, but it has been said to be on-par to sub-par by various developers, no exact specs on the GPU, it's said to be great compared to PS360, but we're comparing to Orbirungo.
To your second response, you're missing the point as "blowing out of the water" doesn't really say anything. It's all relative from there. What exactly does it mean? Some people may not think that it is "blown out of the water" with the difference you can supply with $50-100. There's also the fact with the "bottleneck" issue that just upgrading one part would create that bottleneck you're referring to. So you would need to upgrade more parts than one to reduce the bottleneck effect. Good point. But still, a gpu that'd be bottlenecked by 4gb ram would be a lot more powerful than a gpu not bottlenecked by 1.5gb, and more ram (4gb to 8gb) isn't really a bottleneck. Also, $300 in 2012 may be worth more than $300 in 2014 due to inflation, which I'm assuming maybe you took into factor but one or two years difference in technology isn't nearly that big to say that $300 in 2012 and $400 in 2013 makes the biggest difference. I said 300-450/500/maybe even 550, (assuming ninty breaks even, sony takes loss). And the difference is significant. A gtx 550 last march costs $150, this march it cost $100. That's 2 thirds the original price. I'll be generous and say next years prices will only go down to 3/4 of its original price. That leaves sony with 1/4 cheaper parts for the same power and an extra $150 to spend. Now I'm gonna go a little off topic next so I don't want to post it here, can I PM you? |
