I don't like Sony very much (Nintendo 4 Lyfe!) but I have to say, during the PS1/PS2 years, that's where the bulk of my gaming experiences took place. More than any console before, and any console since (IMHO), the PS2 was THE console for everybody. It had games for the hardcore, the casual, the JRPG fan, the person that wanted to try something totally off the wall (Gitaroo Man, Mr. Mosquito) --The PS2 just had everything covered.

I don't think we'll see anything like it, ever again. The PS2 was the first console that was almost required. If you had a TV, you had a PS2.

You guys are overestimating its sells greatly lol. Have you not seen the graphs showing the Wii and 360 are tracking better in the US. It sold so much because it had redesigns and has been released in many different countries. It is not the behemoth you guys want to believe it is. Might i also add that what the ps2 did in like 10 years the DS did in like 6 lol.

Quoted twice?  I'm honored!

So the Wii and 360 are tracking better in the U.S.?  I'll take your word for it.  I'm actually a big 360 fan, too.  Sony is (as stated before) my least favorite video game maker.  Doesn't change the fact that the PS2 did something amazing and still stands as the best selling console of all time.  Your ability to pick and choose which victories are the ones that matter and which ones you want to down play makes me question if you are an impartial source of info.  It's not the behemoth we want to believe it is?  Then what is it?
