Dragon Age Origins. Great game, but very disappointing it was such a poor port. There's no reason for the game to lag that much.
Also, I'm not a fan of the Mass Effect series in the least. Pretty games, but lousy gameplay. I decided to play through the demo of Mass Effect 3 on the PS3 version. Whether it was the cutscenes or the gameplay, the game couldn't keep a stable framerate. It felt like it was constantly lagging. Then I watched the Digital Foundry comparison and saw that 99% of the time, the PS3 version was running at 20fps.
I've seen Lords of Shadow get mentioned here. I believe it's more or less getting mentioned because of the Digital Foundry comparison rather than being bad. The only time it stays at a lower framerate is when there are major effects, and even then you can't really notice it because it doesn't stay too low and the camera rarely moves so you can't actually see it as bad as you can in the other games. Watch the Digital Foundry comparison in the caves and the platforming part, and watch the Lens of Truth in the Swamp. During gameplay it averages around 27-30fps, rarely dipping to 25fps. When it hits 25fps you can't see it unless you're actually looking for it, and even if you're looking for it, the camera style Lords of Shadow uses it's hard to see.
I'd rather have higher framerate, but I'd take bad framerate any day over bad screen tearing. I don't mean the minor screen tearing. I'm talking about Darksiders for the 360, Saints Row the Third for the 360, or Darksiders 2 for PS3 and 360. Screen tearing that's so bad you can't stand to play the game. The difference in framerate and screen tearing at this point is say you're walking straight down an area, hallway, whatever. You don't notice a framerate drop because the world itself isn't moving. But with a screen tear, and let's say 50% of the screen got torn. It's annoying as hell. You can see screen tearing while moving, while turning the screen, etc.
Then when a game has framerate issues and screen tearing. Dead Island for PS3. It's even worse. This game is even much worse with screen tearing than any other I've played. It's tore 99% of the screen so the next frame kept just about the entire frame. You smack a zombie in the head with a baseball bat only for the entire screen to tear and to you it looks like 0fps, but then a second later the zombie is dead with its brains bashed in on the ground. That's just a good scenario, but what about the bad scenario when you're in act two or further and the entire screen tears when you're against three zombies or more, again you think it's 0fps but a second later you're dead because you didn't see your health critical until it shown the next full frame.
No screen tearing and 25fps is better than 50% screen tearing and 30fps in my opinion.
