I think I first noted this when Ghost Trick was ported to iOS. Third parties are effectively devaluing their IPs by setting such a precedence. If it becomes common that third party games on dedicated handhelds get ported to iOS on a later date, then software sales on the handhelds will take a significant hit and third parties will face the dilemma that their games don't sell much on handhelds and can only be sold for cheap prices on iOS, meaning that new games don't justify current development costs anymore.

But since Nintendo games will continue to sell Nintendo handhelds, your thread title is overly dramatic.

Devaluing IPs by charging next to nothing on mobile devices -- was it not that warning/sentiment that got Iwata all but booed off the stage at GDC 11?

Also, I must bow to the wisdome of Rol.  According to VGC, only 14 ouf the top 50 selling DS titles were third-party, including just one of the top 15 (Cooking Mama at 15th). Talk about NIntedomination.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
