If Sony made a sub $399 PS3 at launch- would it have outsold the PS2 and force MS out of gaming?

Pretty much. The PS3 didn't really have much reasons for a purchase until like 2008 and wasn't it already $399 by then? The 360 on the other hand had a ton of big games in 2007 and was definitely the more attractive console at the time.
