Interesting video. But I still think Apple is genius in their business. and I'm not an apple fan boy or anything, but they clearly have mastered that technology market in hardware and software. They're great business men.
But when you combine sooo many previous unoriginal ideas into ONE idea, you can at some point claim, I think, some sense of originality in your product. A laptop having thunderbolt, magsafe adapter, aluminum unibody, intuitive IOS/OS, great trackpad, etc., etc. all in one is a unique invention.
In other words, someone can STILL use a light bulb (unoriginal idea) in a unique larger idea and have it be considered original. And in the end, lets not forget that ALL ideas are conglomerates of previous original ideas. The lightbulb is a conglomerate of ideas that were not invented by the creator of the lightbulb. But we wouldn't say the lightbulb is an unoriginal idea just because it is made up of previous ideas.
Apple is clearly way more original than many other technology companies in that sense. That being said, yeah I think it's BS that the court ruled in favor of a patent like curved fucking edges on a phone. Totally agree that vague and general patents are BS and hinder the economic market.
