Because after he spent the last decade twiddling his thumbs on Sony's dime, I can't imagine why Nintendo (or Nintendo fans) would want him to spend the next decade twiddling his thumbs on Nintendo's dime.


Has any Nintendo game been stuck in development hell for this long? The only thing I can remember is Twilight Princess which wasn't really in development hell, and they delayed it for the Wii's release as well. Not to mention this is a team-related problem and there's no team at Nintendo that has problems like this.


Mother 3... even more, tbh. Started in 94, released completely different in 2006. Heck, it was a super nes game at some time, then 64DD, then N64 and then GBA
