The study very (very) likely just found some correlation. I'd wager things that cause antibiotic usage in infants also tend to cause things that can increase the risk of obesity much more than antibiotics directly would cause obesity, so I wouldn't put much emphasis on that point. Still, even though nobody seems to care, it seems to me that needless use of antibiotics is a bad thing.
Anyway, it's not like there aren't enough other reasons not to do the proceadure.
