Things change. Among them, final fantasy development cycles. The biggest sign here is that Durango/Orbis will be here by the end of 2013, and given how long in advance SE announces stuff, there simply isn't time.

FFIX was announced 6 months before it was released.

In a different world. When was the last time SE did that for a high profile game? The lag for Dragon Quest X, for instance, was almost 4 years.

FFXIV 1.0 was announced at E3 2009 and then released September the next year.

That's your detailed analysis?

There was more but if I posted it all then people would just see a wall of text and ignore my thread. I therefore decided to post my key argument and let people make up their own minds.

I do prefer this way of laying out your argument :)

Looking your information, I think your onto something here, although I'm still sure SE will just reannounce FFversus 13 as FF15 since people dislike anything FF13 related right now :/

That only depends if FFXV isn't already in development. If FFXV is not already being made then they may change FF Versus XIII to FFXV.
