That this came after an asset review tells me that the Liverpool Studio was considered a weak link, possibly because their existing projects weren't well received internally. Really, in the last 10 years, the only thing they have to hang their hat on is WipeOut. That's not bad, but it's not incredible, either.

My guess is that Worldwide Studios decided Liverpool was going to be unprofitable, or at least, a poor use of assets. Rather than have people work on projects they didn't have faith in, or spend more money building new projects from the ground up, they sent that talent to work on projects with a higher level of support.
