Your comparison is just as bad. Halo 1 for pc had to be able to run on Windows 98. RE4 did not.

You do realize that games developed for Windows XP using DirectX 8 or 9 would run on Windows 98 under similar minimum requirements, while the move to DirectX 10 was botched resulting in much lower game performance until Microsoft patched it with Vista service pack 1 ...

In other words, Windows 98 to Windows XP doesn't really matter, Windows XP to Vista (when Halo 2 was released right after Vista) was a huge deal

Even if what your saying is fully true, the fact that Halo 2 needed a much much better GPU as a minumum should say enough. It needs as minumum a 6 series Geforce or an x700 + ATI.

Resi 4 can use a 4 series Geforce with shader 2.0 as minumum.
