I find it interesting that you mentioned Doom 3 ...

I remember an interview with John Carmack prior to the release of Doom 3 where he was claiming that he thought the Gamecube was better suited in many ways to run Doom 3 than the XBox; and when the interviewer asked him whether this meant there was going to be a Gamecube version his answer was simply "No". id didn't release a Gamecube version because of they had a fallout with Nintendo in the N64 days; and, while John Carmack had not desire to work with Nintendo at that time, he is far to honest of a person to make false claims about a system.
