Seriously though, I saw a couple conservative bloggers pointing out that Romney is substantially ahead of McCain at this point in the race; and if the race tightens up for Romney like it did for McCain (although it wasn't that close for McCain) Romney would win ... Of course this is all based on a bunch of assumptions none of which can be counted on.
As much as the media will never portray it this way, this race is far closer than many people seem to think and could turn ugly for either candidate rather quickly. If a relatively small swing happens and 2.5% of voters in a variety of states switch voting intentions either candidate could win or lose big.
