Which is Nintendo's fault. Focusing on collecting coins is not interesting, and almost 100% sure people buy it for the platforming, which again, doesn't show anything new. As someone who hasn't played, but watched the walkthrough (I know, I know) it was dissaponting to see nothing new on level design and worlds looking like DS rather than Wii. Hopefully NSMBU is a true NSMB sequel. |
In my opinion, these NSMB games lack a certain 'charm' compared to 2D Marios on the NES and SNES...they spent about 15 years without releasing a new iteration till NSMB for the DS back in 2006, then they opened their eyes to the fact 2D Mario is a huge system seller, but it seems they only treat it as a cash in game, a way to make a quick buck. You can tell their priorities, when it comes to truly polishing a game and giving it their best, lie with 3D Mario.
It´s sad because they owe their success to the original Mario Brothers...if it wasn´t for that game, maybe the NES wouldn´t have taken off.
