I can understand the framerate, but the resolution is disappointing.

The game is there. The content is there. If you don't want to play it because it won't have Ultra grafixxz, then you made your choice to miss out. A prime example of PC elitists.

When I install Doom 3 and there is no widescreen, no big deal, the game came out a decade ago. When I buy a game in 2012 and it doesn't have widescreen support, why the fuck would I buy it?

Because... the game is fun?

Hard games are not fun. I'm not a 14 year old with nothing better to do anymore. I actually have shit to take care of. When I want to relax, I don't want to have my ass handed to me by some broken videogame.

That's what I though before I bought it. With 2 kids to take care of, how could this be relaxing. Now it is my favorite game of 2011. The difficulty is there for a reason, to slow you down, so you learn the unique level layout and all the shortcuts. If you play the game just to prove yourself and finish it asap then you will get frustrated. If you like exploring and getting lost in one of the most well crafted, unique and absorbing video game worlds in recent times then don't give this a miss.
This is not a game to finish with one character rushing through identikit dungeon after dungeon. After I got the hang of it I started a new character and what previously took days I could now do in hours.
I played this through 3 times and a bit with the new game+ option. I spend the same amount of time on Skyrim, but that game bored me to death by the end I had to force myself to finish the main story line.

Anyway it still sucks the PC version doesn't get native 1080p. I guess they did some ugly stuff with their effects buffers that they have to resort to upscaling instead.
