Dreamcast had a lot of games in the top positions of NPD (even during the Pokémon Fever at its highest - you know, when the top 3 was already settled for more than a year! I can prove it! Not with numbers, but EGM gave the ranking every month. Sonic Adventure, NFL 2K, Crazy Taxi (and more) all achieved numbers in the top 5!
It was a great success in the US. I think ultimately, Japan is the one that really broke it. That and a little thing called PS2 - the only system that won the race before start running.
