Like some cleverly told you at start, any recompression will degrade your file quality.
So the solution is pretty simple : if you want the best quality, keep the FLV, as that will be the best quality you'll get.
BTW, AVI is not a codec, it's a container. Perhaps you meant XVid, but clearly you're confused about all this.
