Meanwhile Nintendo trademarks New Super Mario Brothers 3, Mario Kart 8, and WiiU Fit U2.

Really? You can't possibly be that biased...

He's kinda right. Hate to say it bro.

I never said he wasn't, but he's only showing one side of the coin.

2 things:

1) Sony also must do this: LBP3 some day, InFAMOUS 3, Uncharted 4, GT6.

2) Nintendo also trademarks new IPs for a new gen: Nintendogs, Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Brain Training, Endless Ocean.

Now if Nintendo doesn't follow that trend in gen8, then he would be more than right, he would be honest. But as it stands we have no idea what kind of new IPs Nintendo has in store for gen8.

To show the cons of one versus the pros of another may be correct, but it's not honest, and it paints the wrong picture.

i think what makes sony different is they seem (from what i've seen) the only game developer that will intentionally move on from a popular franchise.  spyro, crash, jak and daxter.  now sly does have a 4th installment coming now but sucker punch moved on to develop infamous leaving sly fallow for almost 8 years and if the rumors are true they already moved on from infamous to work on another new IP.  naughty dog is now bring out the last of us instead of just more uncharted and have hinted at uncharted ending at the end of this gen.  media molecule has gone on the record as no longer working on little big planet so even though the franchise is coming to vita soon we won't get another MM one.  team ico only seems to work on new IPs being 3 for 3 now with the last guardian.  they also go out of there way to develop and focus on unique one offs like flower, journey, heavy rain, sound shapes, echochrome, fat princess, pain, and demon's souls.

that's kind of unque in the industry.  most developers only abandon a franchise when sales die and it is part of what i've come to love about sony.  it's not that nintendo doesn't come up with new franchises ever but rather that sony seems more focused on doing it regularly and often.

so you listed 5 new nintendo franchises this gen (i'm sure you're missing some, layton is recent right?).  but i've listed 12 so far and i haven't yet included resistance, gravity daze, lair, heavenly sword, warhawk, tokyo jungle, motor storm, mod nation racers, playstation all stars, beyond, eye of judgement, escape plan..
