Mojang raking it in from Minecraft's console port, as it gets set to reveal second year financial results.
Minecraft developer Mojang is set to double its first-year profits according to CEO Carl Manneh.
The studio reported profits of around 60 million SEK (nearly €7.2 million) last year, but thanks to increased Minecraft sales - including a reported 17,000 daily sales on Xbox Live - Mojang will double the figure in only its second year of business Manneh toldIT24 (via MCV Nordic)
“Since Mojang keeps more of the earnings from the new Minecraft versions, our turnover increases a lot this year,” Manneh said. “Our profits will more than double. Markus’ company will also make more money, though perhaps not as high a percentage as Mojang.”
Markus 'Notch' Persson is a co-founder and key owner of Mojang but still retains his own company, Notch Development, which is said to have made around 425 million SEK to Mojang's 550 million SEK last year.
Most of the profit will end up at Mojang this year after it officially took over development of Minecraft, according to the report.
Minecraft PC is sill selling over 10,000 units a day at $26.95 a time.
Mojang is still evolving Minecraft PC, and developing card-trading game Scrolls and shooter Cobalt - Notch is meanwhile working on space-trading sim 0x10c.
