well, those numbers about Apples share means nothing if you don't post the leading companies numbers as well, Vitas market share is 12.1% - which is comparable to Apples PC market share. That's pretty good when taken out of context. Now, if we compare it with the market leader (the 3DS) we clearly see that 12% is pretty bad compared to the 3DS' 80% market share. Even if Apple only has 12% of the PC market they could be the leader.
What we need to remember is that Apple is pretty good at taking something existing and... making it their own. Just look at the iPod, iPhone or iPad. If they entered the gaming industry I'm pretty sure they'd bring something new - unlike what they did back in 199-something.
Anyway, I don't believe Apple would be successful in gaming - it was a "what if"-scenario. I'm not all that fearful of them dominating gaming (excluding all their crappy games on iOS).
