It didn't really need the Final Fantasy name, all it needed was to release on the Ps3 as well. It's such a shame, Sakaguchi deserved better.

Yep, as a general observation japanese multiplat rpgs sold better on the PS3, just saying...

No, because it's not the name that sells Final Fantasy games, it's their quality.

Name is also important.  FFXIII sold a lot 1st week because of name only, but later on, the craptastic quality made it to stop selling.

If there is a new IP what matters is only the quality of the game.

That is wrong, in japan it is very typical for long awaited games to do great numbers in the first week and then have massive drops.

And if it all were a matter of a brand name why did XIV went to hell from the very first second ? We are forgetting that at first XIII was fairly well received and it was only after most people played the game, were done with it and went on with their lives, that all the internet whinny know-it-alls started bitching about it like it was dooms day. And here we are waiting for XIII-3.

But don't let me spoil another Square Enix hate circle jerk...

If thats true then why has FF13-2 sold a lot less copies than FF13? With FF13-3 likely to sell less copies than its predecessor (unless FF Versus is renamed FF13-3).

We know that Japanese titles have a large drop off after their launch week. What is in debate here is why FF13-2 sold less copies than its predecessor.

Damn straight I want FF13-3 to be in development. I dont want Production Team 1 to have any involvement what so ever with FF15. That dosent mean I'm anticipating the game.
