Yes I see what you're saying, though a fair amount of fans my have a bone to pick with ff13. It doesn't matter entirely because it sold very well.
|
That's all that matters to SE.

I don't think FF is broken. But then again, what do I know, I've only played FF13
|
See, I think it is broken... but it doesn't need saving.
Since well... it still sells well. Which means it's still popular.
I mean... I compare it to other JRPGs... and it's not really a contest.
Really it's a shock it's sales are so strong.
for a lot of people FF seems to be there designated RPGs for the generation.

it sells well but could sell much more if they make a final fantasy like ff6 to ff 10, a ff that fans want and are asking for them to make.
edit : and if they continue this path, making games like ff 13 i dont think the brand can survive next gen , i thing there is a lot people like me that would never buy a ff game like ff 13 again, all things i liked from ff games they trow away :(
|
I wonder if it would.
People have moved away from JRPGs since the time those games came out.
This generation has all been about "The rise of the WRPG"
I feel like this has less to do with fan dissapointment as it is a natural shift. I imagine SE's consumer research has shown the same, hence why they've been more proactive in trying to western up FF.

Probably more to do with the fact that they just dont make JRPGS on the consoles as much as they did last gen. PS1 was silly with the things, and thats not even considering the games that DIDNT make it outside of Japan, PS2 saw less, but was still healthy and this gen has been terrible not only release wise but the quality isnt really there either IMHO. It all went to handhelds
