See, I actually LOVED this, yeah the game was simple and you couldn't die, but I find that to be a big plus: In a game where you can't die, you're not pressured to try harder or anything and there's no stress to come from it, I hate being put under pressure and being stressed during games, which is why I rarely play on the hardest difficulty (I won't play Killzone 2 on the hardest difficulty, but I can beat the ladder on Mortal Kombat no problems whatsoever on expert), basically on this game it means you can play at your own pace and can actually enjoy the story and what's happening rather than raging because some enemy keeps killing you and you have to restart from a checkpoint or something, y'know what I mean? Also yeah, I loved the conversations between the Prince and Elika, they were a nice touch, especially when you could start a conversation up with her at any time to get to know more about her (There were trophies/achievements for it actually lol) |
I think people focused too hard on the "Not dying" mechanic. I felt that the mechanic was more like a well designed checkpoint system. If you were in the middle of platforming, you are sent back to the last platform you were firmly standing on. This is like most modern games, but instead of showing a death animation, they showed you geting saved from death. Some of the platforming moments were tough, but most of the time it was fun fluid and relaxing.
But then again, I play most games on normal or easy difficulty, since I am not limited to a couple games a year anymore and I also don't have as much time to game as I did when I was younger.
