Hello guys

Today i bought a nintendo 3DS. The lack of goof games right now and the fact that my holiday will start in september ( and i truly need some games during this time) were the reasons why i bought a 3ds today.
I have playey several hours right now and since this is a vita thread lets start a little comparison between both systems.

The Graphics: I played the best looking 3ds game (Resident Evil Revelations) and whyle i must say it truly look outstanding for a erly title it cannot match Vitas best looking games (Uncharted and Gravity rush)
So Vity wins this point by a big margin.

Sounds: Well i think both systems do really well on this point and in fact it also depends on the games so i cannot tell big differences.

Menüs: Well the vita is much more comfortable to me.

The Games: Ive only played Super Mario 3d Land and Resident Evil right now. Both are really great and entertaining games. Ive also preordered Zelda, Super Mario Bros 2 and Super Mario 64 DS.
And when i look into the future i must think of games like Luigis Mansion 2 which will be day one to me.
So far i have two games for the vita. Uncharted and Gravity Rush. The future lIne up this year lookm good with Little big Plante, PSBR. Buts thats all i am interested this year. According to my retailer Sly 4 and Soul Sacrifice will both release early 2013. So the 3ds wins by a small margin this year.

Battery: Cant tell you right now.

Handling: Definitaly the vita. It has two analoge sticks and is much bigger.

Fazit: Both handhelds are great systems. Well the 3d Effect is bad for the 3ds but both handhelds have great must have games. If you have enough money and time get both systems. You cant do anything wrong with that purchases.

Glad you're enjoying your 3DS! I got mine when they first went on a decent offer in the UK prior to the official price drop. I actually only pad £10.00 more than the post price drop price and got all the Nintendo Ambassador stuff so was very happy with that :D

I really rate Ridge Racer 3D (which is actually £6.99 in Sainsburys over here now) and it's contender for the definitive version of Ridge Racer. It also has a very good 3D effect that doesn't compromise the frame rate and gives a lovely sense of depth.

I think I pretty much agree with your comparisons to Vita. I haven't actually touched my 3DS since Resident Evil Revelations as I got a Vita and really haven't looked back. But the 3DS does have much better sound that the DS had and the Nintendo titles particularly really show the system off well as Nintendo know how to make the most of what they have got. I also think for games like Super Mario 3D Land the 3D effect is key to the experience.

I'd say the biggest drawbacks with the 3DS are the battery life which on the regular unit, seems about half the battery life of the Vita and the screen resolution. The Vita wipes the floor with the system in that respect. I think the most stark comparison you can see is Rayman Origins (there is a demo of each so you can do a direct comparison) the Vita version looks incredible, the 3DS version looks pixellated and really lacks detail and clarity and on top of that has frame rate issues.

Basically my 3DS is going to be like my Wii ended up being. A Nintendo machine with the odd 3rd party exclusive, but it will only really be for exclusive releases... and RIIIIIIIDGE RACER! :D

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.
