I do enjoy when games have good stories, but it isn't a huge deal. It would just be nice to see some new villains.

How hard is it to give another reason to Mario to go forward in levels? That is just plain laziness what they do.

You know what? You actually have a point. Sooner or later people Will get tired of jumping through obstacles for the sole purpose of saving a woman in need. The motivation to play these Mario games will simply not be there anymore unless Nintendo finds a new way of encouraging people to get through the tough shit that is Mushroom Kingdom.

I don't know much about other people's motivations but I do know about trying to take things forward. The discurse of some gamers around here and there about games having to focus solely in gameplay and discarding storylines shouldn't be an excuse to better presentation. For example you can take Castle Crashers' take on story development which isn't intrusive at all, it is short, funny, witty and enhances the experience, something Mario doesn't have.

Fair enough, I guess.

You should talk to the creators of Angry Birds about this. They, if anyone, could use a deeper story for their franchise.
