I don't often agree with suing game companies for using each others ideas because that would hamper the industry from moving forward by using great game mechanics and styles that they have learned from others but what Zynga is doing is just as bad.
From looking at their game they've done little to nothing to offer something new and/or better for the gaming community.
Zynga uses the same style and mechanics used by other games with the most basic visual changes so people can tell its a different game.
People have said that this discourages innovation as small game developers will have their game's selling points stolen by Zynga and used in their games leaving less demand for the small unknown developers.
In extreme cases like this companies should be held to account for blatant copying of another's game and as long as we maintain a VERY high standard for cases like this it shouldn't hamper the industry greatly.
