i'm going to disagree with the first one.  a lot of apps have pretty big issues.  i always read the reviews.  the thing is though it is sort of self regulating as software that crashes is software that people don't buy.

but i'm going to wholeheartedly agree with the seond part.  patches have become a part of life for console games now.  the upfront bug checking is imporant but now that their is an avenue to fix issues leave it to the developer.  i promise they are going to do their best in order to ensure their own reputation isn't trashed.

I'm going to agree with you also on the apps crashing (especially on Andriod).  Almost all free to play apps and most paid apps have a decent amount of people btiching about crashing, freezing, sound, etc..   Android is pretty damn fragmented right now.

I think patching is used as a crutch by a lot of developers.  Sure it might make the game better eventually but they should have done a little more freaking beta/play testing in the first place.  Hell, most people couldn't even figure out how to log onto CoD:BO on Wii till they fixed it with a patch.  First you created a name then tried to log on (that wouldn't work/connect).  You then had to create another account then you could log on.  If you didn't know to create the second account (I didn't for the first 3 days (actually I could log onto Zombie mode but not regular which was weird) till I read their statement online stating what you had to do before they released the patch).   Point is patches are too heavily relied upon these days.  The only company I knows that does damn good patches is Blizzard.  At least their games work when they are first released too (they better considering they take forever to release).

lulz, that's pretty bad.  still, CoD died out on wii and maybe that's why.  i tend to (and i'd like to thing other do as well) buy a lot of their games on good faith.  there are certain developers/publishers i trust (naughty dawg, santa monica, atlus) and certain developers i don't (bethesda). those names factor in quite heavily on what i am or am not willing to spend my money on.
