Despite all the mistakes that hurt MS, which by themselves hurt MS' reputation, Apple offered something that felt unique and fresh. And that is tough to compete with. Just look at consoles: Wii was the gaming device for the mass market. It felt unique and fresh and people were willing to try it. Kinect`s motion gaming felt fresh but not unique, that`s why, despite the early success, it didn`t set the world on fire like the Wii.
MS has got to create something that feels unique and fresh so that people can feel be attracted to MS once again.
