I've been wrong FAR LESS than I've been right, however its certainly possible it gets pushed into 2014, but HIGHLY unlikely. 1) Sony and MS consider Nintendo a huge competitor... even if many fanboys like to pretend otherwise. They won't let Nintendo have more than a year head-start. I am not sure when it will be announced, but there is a logical reason to keep it quiet for as long as possible so it won't detract from PS3 sales or Vita buzz. Originally I was thinking MSony would want to steal some of Nintendo's thunder and announce their consoles in some form at E3. That didn't' happen, so now its just a matter of how much info they want to give and when. Vita's coming out party (on January 27, 2011) was less than a year before it launched (on December 17, 2011). It was announced during a private Sony event not tied to any game conference. It certainly possible and likely Sony will copy that approach and have a stand-alone event just after Jan2013 in order to not hamper xmas sales of PS3. With E3 being in June, I expect initial dialogue to start before that. However, I am 99% confident in a 2013 release date for neXtBox and PS4. |
Trying to give comparisons of a handheld to a full on console will render a misguided opinion.
For 1, and for reasons that I myself don't understand, Handhelds are not given the same importance or "red carpet treatment that consoles are.
Consoles, for example are almost always launched during the holidays. In fact, every single home console since from the Dreamcast on has, except for the PS2, which still did release in America during holidays.
So that includes, DREAMCAST, GAMECUBE, XBOX 1, XBOX 360, PS3, Wii, and the Wii U is also scheduled for Q4 2012. PS2 launch in March 2000 in Japan, and holiday 2000 in the US.
All of these consoles had a minimum of a 1 year lead time from announcement to launch....only the XBOX 360 was officially announced 6 months before, but the industry still knew it was coming and even knew much of the specs because of other announcements & leaks from manufacturers such as AMD.
Basically, unless Sony plans on announcing PS4 at TGS 2012 in September, there will be no PS4 in 2013, because it will be too late for marketing and manufacturing purposes.
What I'm describing to you are patterns and trends. What you are trying to pine on, go against these layed down, tried and true patterns and trends.
Even if we were to disregard the fact that you've already proven yourself to be wrong, but because Sony has said no, and because of the patterns Sony has established, There's just simply no reason for anyone to believe you, regarding the PS4. Sorry.
