Ive said for a while that if apple allow a standard controller to be paired with ipads/iphones then it could spell a whole heap of trouble for the gaming giants as the iPad suddenly becomes a console.

It'd be neat if it was compatible with MacBooks (iMac?) as well. A MacBook in a year or two should be able to smoke a PS3/360/Wii U at 720p if the signal could be beamed wirelessly to the TV.

But it would be pretty interesting, that you could theoretically never be away from "console" style gaming. An iPhone in someone's pocket could wirelessly power a game like Assassin's Creed 3 on someone's TV someday soon.

by soon you mean...?

Last time I checked the cpu/gpu tec powering current smartphones and tablets are quite a far way off from current gen consoles. Especially when it comes to gaming.
