I do agree that there needs to be a re-evaluation of our foreign policy, one more committed to multilateral action, but i do not believe we can afford to ignore a lot of what goes on in the world, and a re-evaluation of priorities (namely in that Russia is not our enemy, so we should abandon that idiotic European missile defense shield)

Eh, i'd say it was a little of both.

As i remember the rationale for why the US interevened was

"The US is the only country with technology good enough to flawlesy destroy libya's anti-aircraft weaponry."

One or two planes shot down might actually have been "fought to exhuastion" for France and Italy.

 

Italy not having the best military historically and then suddenly running into bankruptcy issues not that soon after... and the French I can't imagine were too enthused about libya.
