So he hasn't even played the game which he ranks number 1 for not deserving success.

 I think he said this more for comic effect. The rest of his words suggest he has played it. He probably had to play it at some point due to his job and when he came go getting a Wii and Wii Play had already decided it wasn't great and never played it.
