People liked the idea of what Nintendo was doing more than they liked it in practice, many gamers are elitists, they have spent a lot of time in getting good at it and find it unnerving that Nitnendo is basically resetting the starting point and allowing all these newcomers to enter the market without clearing the hurdles that they had to clear.
They dislike that games like Wii fit are becoming the main attraction in stead of the game types that they have spent so long playing and learning
