| Kresnik said: The PS3 isn't so hot for MMO's either. DCUO never really took off (although it's doing better as F2P) and then... what else is there? FF XIV eventually? I doubt it will do as well as as XI did on the PS2, although you never know. Tbh I think the MMO bubble is beginning to burst, and I really question the choice to make an Elder Scrolls Online game, but I guess we'll have to see how it turns out. Hopefully it'll innovate a little rather than copying WoW like 90% of the competition. |
MMOs are doing fine.
The reason is the Sub Model isn't working on consoles and F2P is just getting introduced to most people.
Also MMORPG Developers are greedy and so are Microsoft and Sony, especially with the Sub Fee and maybe other things in the game.
Microsoft and Sony would like to have always a big share of these things...Sony is probably a little bit more friendly cause a lot of MMO(RPG) Devs turned Microsoft down due to their crazy conditions combined with XboxLive.
But all in all both sides are greedy and MMO(RPG) Devs choose the way where they make the most money for themselves > PC or F2P on consoles or have a strong brand name like Final Fantasy or maybe Elders Scrolls.
I know Diablo 3 isn't a MMO(RPG) but its a great example.
You always hear when they talk about Diablo for consoles that they like Sony more or don't even mention the 360 cause Sony is far more open.
Why does Blizzard like this?Their Real Life Money Auction House is their most important thing and they surely would want to bring a version of it to consoles.
They make a big share of the money people make there and Microsoft would probably take far to much money. And yes people get rich from the RMAH - There are enough people who made way over thousands of thousands of $ and Euro and from every of this transaction Blizzard is getting something.
Valve had problems too with Mircrosoft too cause they had crazy conditions for Steam.
Yes Valve hated Sony and wanted Steam at first on Microsoft but they had again their weird imagination everyone loves them and wants to give them their soul.Sony said you can do your thing on our platform and Valve started to love Sony.Hopefully Steam will be a big part of the PS4 Next Gen.
And people who play FPS,RTS and MMOs rather with a Pad than Keyboard+Mouse and even think its better for this Genres...please stay at Call of Duty and don't reproduce.
The last time i puked was when someone telled me Halo Wars is better than Starcraft and a lot more suitable for good or even PROGAMERS.You know those koreans that have crazy APMs and so on.
Or those hardcore precise Counterstrike ProGamers that have a reaction out of this world.
I don't want to puke cause of such nonsense anymore - There are genres that are better with a Gaming Pad but none of them really matters.
FPS,RTS,MMOs you play with Mouse+Keyboard...Beat em Up > Arcade Stick....Racing Games with a Wheel and a Gearshift setup etc.Flight Simulators with a Joystick or a setup for those games.
Console Gamepads probably are only useful for Offline J-RPGs,games like Twisted Metal(Put it in and play games) and Jump n runs.
But nearly every other genre is played with either KB+M or other hardware.
