Lol I love how a PS3 without an Harddrive is an great idea but the WiiU without an harddrive is horrible.

Big difference here. With these PS3s it is optional.

Surely since you can buy a HDD which works with the WiiU for the same price, it's the same?

I'm not saying it's a good idea. But it's an idea. And a lot of people who would be getting the PS3 now are likely gonna be people who are uninterested in 'hardcore' gaming, and, as such, won't care about the lack of space. Same with the WiiU.

Though, after all that rambling, they should release a WiiU with a 150GB HDD, let's say, for £30 more. But that's another thread.

Nope. It's not the same, you still need to buy a HDD for any Wii U whereas for PS3 and Xbox 360 you can get various sizes of storage, plain and simple :P

I can see what people are saying, maybe it works out as the same price for the vanilla models. But a lot of people buy bundles or deals, where prices are cut significantly and I don't think HDDs have as big an impact on pricing, effectively making them cheaper. And it's just more conveniant and gives the consumer options. I mean it's not a big deal, but I don't like it. It's like buying something that requires batteries but batteries aren't included (though it's a lot more inconveniant that that lol, because people generally don't have external HDDs lying around).

Same with the WiiU. Isn't Nintendo trying to attract the hardcore back with the Wii U? And you're forgetting about the hardcores that love Nintendo games and who'll buy it, 8gb is not enough for a digital-download friendly HD console, and if the Wii U isn't digital-download friendly then it better say goodbye to a lot of third party support.
