I have to concur with others, if bulking up is what you wanted, then protein shakes and working out would have done it for you. Not only that, but in the time you take to cycle, you could have easily put on well earned muscle, helped your cardiovascular system, and taught yourself discipline that would help you continue keeping that muscle mass.
Instead, you're taking the easy way out. Like an overweight person on the latest fad diet, you're going to go through cycles of ups and downs, and after each down, you're going to try more of whatever the latest fad is to help you build muscle until ultimately you do damage you can't undo.
I don't know how old you are and I don't know how skinny you are, but building muscle and tone naturally isn't that difficult. Yes, it's painful to build muscle, but it isn't painful to maintain it. You could easily improve your muscle content with three weight routines for your biceps, pecs, and thighs, and two exercise routines for your abs and gluts (butt). 1 hour, three times a week.
