With other products, when the quality isn't right there, Sony fans praise it anyway. And it's that phenomenon that I hate. It's called fanboyism.

@Bolded All of the big 3 have their vocal minorities who'd be considered "fanboys," I think it's unfair the way you 1: dictate when quality is or isn't there and 2: group all Sony fans into the sony fanboy group. I would consider myself a Sony fan, or rather a Playstation fan (among other platforms), but that doesn't mean I blindly love everything a first party studio develops and I'm fanatical about all things Sony. 

 Why does John Marston "slay these characters"? I'm interested in this, I mean I just finished Undead nightmare and I can't get enough of Marston, but I find this an odd thing to say. As good as Marston is (or most RS protagonists for that matter), I don't see how Joel can be seen as a lesser character yet. We don't know that much about the characters in TLOU and what we do know and we've seen has indicated nothing less than fleshed out and intriguing imo. 

I might present it in a brutish way, but it's my opinion that right now with The Last of Us we see a lot of fanboy-based overrating and praise going on. I wish I could express it in a more elegant way. I do not say Sony fans or any fans love and praise everything from their respective companies, but they overrate it. That's a key element in being a fan or fanboy.

John Marston's character has so many elements of a great character. Elements that generally speaking appeal to a lot of people. He is extremely charismatic, has perfect portions of warmth, sympathy, nastyness, irony and humour, among other character feats. Much like Nathan Drake.

Joel seems to be the opposite.

Are you familiar with the action flick actors Steven Seagal and Jeann-Claude Van Damme? They are universally seen as terrible actors without any form of charisma.

I'm not saying Joel is Steven Seagal because I don't know him that well yet, but for illustrative purposes:

If John Marston is Clint Eastwood then Joel is Steven Seagal.

You keep saying you don't know joel yet and his character but still compare him to being steven seagal isn't that a contradiction?
