Yeah, I can link unsourced stuff too.  If Sony lost $1.2 billion in 2011 then that's where I've gone wrong, sure.  Going back to 2007-esque losses though is a big step and I'm not quite sure how they could have achieved that.

SCE lost in FY2011 94.7 billion yen, and that is 1.2 billion US$. So SCE has lost in this generation all the money they earned in PS1 and PS2 generations, and that's not a misconception.

Wait... so Sony literally lost exactly the right amount to come out pretty much right on zero? That's incredible... I just don't know whether it's incredible as in amazing, or incredible as in not credible. The obvious question is, are the numbers all translated to USD using the same conversion rate? Otherwise, it's possible that the numbers are out, because Sony would record their income in yen, not USD (and thus, changes in exchange rate would be incorporated into any non-yen investments' net inflow or outflow of money).

Kresnik - I can very much see how they could have achieved that - PS Vita launch (with associated losses) + "PS4" development costs.
