Pretty much this, I barely notice the ads on the dash. And I couldn't agree more about tv which is why I do exactly what you mention.....DVR EVERYTHING. It's crazy how I've changed the way I watch tv just to avoid the ads but I always feel very satisfied every time I'm FFWDing through another block of mostly useless commercials.
I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.
