Cavestory is the name of the game and it is pure brilliance, if you haven't heard of it. It's just a 2d sidescrolling shooter adventure in the vein of Metroid or The Later Castlevania games. Just a small indie developer named Pixel. I'm sorry, but if you don't love this game it's because you came onto the gaming scene too late to appreciate it's 2d awesomeness.
It has an incredible soundtrack, a fun story, cool weapons, and is just overall a blast to play. It's old, but I'm just discovering it, and so I figure there must be others that don't know about this incredible game. It really makes me miss the old days. The days when fighting a giant toaster/suitcase named balrog wasn't considered something you'd find in a goofy kids game, it was just par for the course in a videogame.
edit:I'm not sure if the above version has the english patch or not, since I didn't get it from there. I DLed mine from this fansite which has a seperate download for the english patch.
