I've done some 'experiments' here on VGChartz and I've come to the conclusion that every user here considers himself to be vastly more intelligent than the average person. Are they correct? I don't know. I'm not qualified to measure a person's intelligence through internet forums. (Though if I could, I'd say some people here could qualify to be mentally handicapped).

So, to all you people who believe you are so smart, I have a question for you: How did you obtain such intelligence? Was it genetics? Were you born with a superior ability to learn and simply lived fortunate life? Are your parents the main cause of your intelligence? Was it all the books and brain toys they gave you when you where an infant that ushered your brain to its current status? Or maybe you are the cause of your intelligence? Are you? Did you wake up one day and say "today I will increase my intelligence to until its vastly superior to others? Etc.

Please don't feel pressured to have a correct response. I'm not interested in facts. (Trust me, if I were looking for facts, I would not be asking you 'people') I'm just interested in what you think. I promise not to laugh at anyone's posts here because I know you are giving your deep and intimate feelings. (Unless you say something really really funny).

Now please, tell me your secret!

I grew up reading books, studying hard in school. However, I never felt that I was really that smart. It requried dedication, hard work and having the right mind set to get to where I am today, which is studying towards a PhD in Chemical Engineering.

Many people who replied in this post attributed some of their intelligence to games... I actually think that video games hurt my overall development. I wouldnt recommend playing video games to improve your intelligence, maybe luminosity but none of the regular blockbusters. Video games are basically slot machines with a story.

At the end of the day, there isn't a single type of intelligence that rules all. The most important thing is to discover your passion which may take a while. If you find something you love working on, you will find that you will be intelligent in that field and have a fun life.

Also, it's actually a positive trait to think you're intelligent even if you're not... confidence is king in the real world even if it's annoying on the internet.
