I tend to be in two minds about it, but I would usually rank the first one above the second as well. T2 is still a great film though, and although the special effects are not much compared to todays, I feel they are still able to portray what was needed without taking you out of the film, which is probably my main gripe about the first film, particularly at the end with the jerky stop motion robot.
