I'm from southern Brazil which is quite different from the Brazil you guys know from the news. Most of the population constitutes of descendants of italians, germans and poles opposite to the african/portuguese mix of the rest of the country. Despite most of the region having been colonized only a century or so ago or even less, we're the richest region of the country, naturally. It's the only part of Brazil where there is an organized secession movement nowadays, though with little hopes of success. We have one of the most pleasant and less disaster-prone climates in the planet. Our people aren't overtly religious but also don't fall for the new atheist / PC crap that runs rampant in Europe. The soil is perfect for agriculture and rich in many kinds of ores.

The bad and the ugly: two thirds of what comes here from the rest of the country.
